When you visit the Sony Vegas Movie Studio download page you are given three choices: Sign up for a free account, Apply for a Movie Studio Membership, and Downloadable Content. Once you click on the download option, you are taken to a page where you can choose the software that you wish to download - Windows software or Mac software. The download manager will ask you if you want to install the application immediately upon the completion of your download. Clicking on the download link will place the application on your computer and enable you to use it immediately.
The software offers several unique features such as exporting and importing photo slideshows, edit existing videos, apply transitions, apply digital effects, manage your folders and much more. The software allows you to create, rename, and access your projects from your computer as well as the Sony Vegas movie studio website. You can even edit each item in your project right from your computer, which includes playing the video, pause, rewind, skip to the next frame, add text, insert files, and so forth. The application does require a little bit of know how for editing though, and many people who have never used computer applications before may not be able to figure out how to get this application to work with their existing editing software.
Overall, the software is nice and easy to use, but it is lacking something that may become a problem for some users. On the plus side, downloading shows is very easy and it only takes five hours to download show details. The bad thing is that the application crashes often, so if you plan on editing a lot of videos or movies the five hours to download show details might be too long. Also, on occasion when I tried to view files using this application it would take a while for the files to load up. Other than these two minor setbacks the Sony Vegas Movie Studio is very easy to use and is a good option for someone just starting out with digital video production.
